CMC ass. prof. Mogens Christensen recieves prestigeous Sapere Aude research grant

Today it was announced that CMC ass. prof. Mogens Christensen had recieved the prestigeous Sapere Aude grant from the Danish Agency for Science, Technology and Innovation. The grant is given to further Mogens Christensen's research in magnetic materials, with a focus on magnets based on cheap and abundant elements.

Magnets are everywhere in our society. Though often hidden, they are at the heart of every electromotor or device where electricity is converted to physical motion, e.g. shavers, refrigerators, pumps, power tools and an infinite variety of other applications. Powerful magnets will dramatically improve the efficiency of electromotors and reduce their size, which results in a lower power consumption and hence a reduced CO2 emission. Consequently, creating such powerful magnets of abundant and affordable elements holds promise of an immense impact on our society.
