On Friday the 14th of June the Interdisciplinary Nanoscience Center (iNANO) hosted the first of what hopefully is to become an annual event: The iNANO Football Tournament.

Eleven teams formed by different scientific groups associated with iNANO competed in matches of 2 x 7 minutes in order to win the prestigious Grand Trophy. The teams were composed of students as well as senior staff members (professors, administration, etc.) who all showed up to have a great time playing football and socializing outside of the everyday work environment.

Out of the twelve competing teams, one turned out to defeat them all: The CMC Besenballers, the football team formed by the CMC group and named in honor of the founder of iNANO, Flemming Besenbacher.

Overall score: 42-0

The CMC team counted Cecilia Granados (ph.d. student), Sofie Kastbjerg (postdoc), Anders Blichfeld (ph.d. student), Bo Richter (lab technician), Henrik Lyder (master student), Kasper Houlberg (project student), Martin Søndergaard (postdoc), Lars Jepsen (ph.d. student), Casper Welzel (master student), and Jacob Overgaard (senior scientist). It was coached and managed by ph.d. students Lasse Bjerg and Christoffer Tyrsted. The team was cheered on by a happy mix of CMC postdocs and students – Kirsten Jensen, Jianli Mi, Hao Yin, Sebastian Christensen, Payam Javadian, and Peter Nørby.
