CMC research assistant Bo Richter awarded prestigious poster prize

Research Assistant Bo Richter has been awarded the Challenging Spirits poster prize at the largest metalhydride conference held 21 - 26 October 2012 in Kyoto, Japan. The prize has been awarded for his work on "Salt-Free Synthesis and Thermal Decomposition Pathways of Mn2(BH4)2" i.e. Manganese Borohydride. The material is one among numerous borohydrides synthesized and studied within CMC. Generally, borohydrides show great promise for hydrogen storage applications, which has led to rapidly increasing interest among researchers world wide. Tailoring of the kinetics (and thermodynamics) of hydrogen uptake and release is essential, which in turn require in-depth studies of various synthesis techniques, the role of dopants, catalysts, etc.
