Professor Flemming Besenbacher has been elected Fellow of the American Physical Society (www.aps.org) “for contributions to the understanding of atomic scale processes on solid surfaces, leading to breakthroughs in catalysis and nanotechnology.” His nomination by colleagues in the APS Condensed Matter Physics division went through the APS Council and is thus a distinct honor signifying recognition by his professional peers.
