The renovation of the CMC laboratories in the basement under building 1514 is nearing its completion. Expected ready by early June 2013, these laboratories have been expanded and completely renewed. In the past they have held the CMC facilities for supercritical synthesis and bio-oil production from biomass as well as the two unique induction furnaces commanded by the Center. With the renovation these facilities will be expanded significantly, e.g. with new synthesis reactors and a sintering-lab holding a battery of tube furnaces for long-term crystallization or sintering experiments. Last but not least the lab holds the ultra-high-pressure laboratory press brought to Dept. of Chemistry by CMC Ass. Prof. Martin Bremholm, which was installed in April.
