SpaCe joins the opening of Dark Sky Park Anholt
On Thursday 16 October, Anholt will officially be celebrated as Denmark’s newest International Dark Sky Park.
The small island in the Kattegat has long been known for its unique landscapes and outstanding night sky, and the status as a Dark Sky Park highlights years of local effort to protect nature and reduce light pollution. Aarhus Space Centre (SpaCe) is proud to support this milestone as a partner in the Interreg EU project DARKER SKY.
As part of the opening, Professor Hans Kjeldsen from SpaCe will guide visitors under Anholt’s night sky and share insights into the wonders above us. With this new status, Anholt becomes one of only a handful of Dark Sky Parks in Denmark, offering both residents and visitors a rare chance to experience the night sky in excellent conditions, including fantastic views of the Milky Way.
The event brings together science, culture, and community—an inspiring example of how dark skies can connect people with nature and the universe.
